A New Chapter: Why Limestone Lures is Moving to Real-Time Inventory
Share
As many of you who have followed Limestone Lures over the last seven years know, this brand was built on a foundation of passion, craft, and a shared love of fishing. From my first pours to where we are today, I've always tried to do things the right way.
But lately, I’ve been doing some reflecting on what "the right way" actually means.
The Problem with "Made to Order"
Since the beginning, I operated on a "Made to Order" model. It allowed me to offer a huge catalog of colors and profiles without needing a warehouse of storage space. However, as the Limestone Lures grew, that model hit a wall.
When you order from a bait maker, you expect a certain level of quality and a reasonable turnaround time. As order volumes increased, I found that maintaining those high standards while juggling a "made to order" queue just wasn't working anymore. I realized I was spending more time managing logistics than focusing on the actual craft I love.
The Change: Real-Time Availability
So on April 10th, I made a fundamental change to how Limestone Lures operates. I have officially moved to a Real-Time Inventory model.
What this means for you:
-
Real Time Availability: If an item is on the website and you can add it to your cart, it is hanging on my racks and ready to go.
-
Faster Turnaround: By removing the "Made to Order" queue, shipping times have already been drastically reduced, with some orders now heading out the door the same day they are placed.
- Quality First: I can get back to focusing entirely on the quality you expect from Limestone Lures, rather than rushing to fulfill an order with a single obscure SKU that doesn't get ordered often.
Looking Ahead
I know that this change means some of your favorite patterns and profiles will occasionally show as unavailable, and I am grateful for your patience as I build the inventory to keep the shop better stocked than ever before.
This decision was born from a hard situation I found myself in recently that left me reflecting on how I can do things differently, the "right way", to serve you better. I had to make a change in the way I worked.
From a dream in the desert seven years ago to helping you put more fish in the net today, thank you for being a part of the Limestone Lures journey.
Sincerely,
Jeff Dicks
